Description:
Overview:
Pregnancy loss historically has been over looked by community support systems. There have been many improvements within the health care systems in offering ways to support people who have experienced a pregnancy loss. However, people still routinely hear statements that are harmful to grieving people. This workshop will explore the pregnancy loss grief process: including memory making, support groups, and developing community support to help people once they leave the hospital. Exploring hospital supports will include ritual and memory making supports. Whereas, exploring community supports will focus on what to offer people once they leave the hospital setting includes: developing donations to assist future grieving families, support groups, and remembrance walks. It takes a community to help a family recover from pregnancy loss.
