Stephen Lewis MA DMin BCC

Stephen Lewis DMin BCC is a Staff Chaplain at UC San Diego Health. He has clinical expertise in critical care, trauma, hospice, and palliative care. He has studied the use of psychedelic medicines for the past seven years and has completed the MAPS training in MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. Steve is an active advocate for the development of literacy and competence among Chaplains working in psychedelic care, as well as for the inclusion of Chaplains as practitioners in research studies and treatment protocols.


 

Dr. George Grant MDiv PhD ACPE

Dr. George Grant MDiv PhD ACPE a psychologist and an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, is the Executive Director for Spiritual Health in the Woodruff Health Sciences Center at Emory University. He is responsible for the education of spiritual health clinicians, the service of spiritual health to patients and staff across Emory Healthcare and a scientific research arm driving evidence-based outcomes. Dr. Grant also serves as Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Emory Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality.
At the core of his work is the vision and co-development of a healthcare distress intervention that cuts across cultures. CCSH™ (Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health) is a program to bolster the wellbeing, resilience, and compassion of healthcare patients and staff. CCSH™ augments spiritual health education and best practices with CBCT® (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training), a program developed at the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University. CCSH™ interventions are delivered by spiritual health professionals trained in both CBCT® and ACPE: The Standard in Spiritual Care and Education.

 

Saundra Shanti, MA BCC CAPG

As a board-certified, multi-faith chaplain and visual artist, Shanti merges art and spirituality in an imagination process that transforms art supplies and life experience into something therapeutic and meaningful. She has engaged hospital staff, patients, corporate employees, and survivors of domestic violence in art-making to express themselves, explore their success or suffering, and move toward holistic well-being. Her playful and probing approach reflects her understanding of spirituality which cultivates connection with the essential self, other people, and the sacred. Her company, Art-SoulHealth promotes professional wellness through artistic engagement. Shanti has presented on the integration of art and spirituality at state and national conferences. She has designed a creative process for the integration phase following psychedelic experiences and is collaborating on researching the impact of this form of integration. Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Art and Education, an M.A. in Theology, an M.A in Arts in Medicine, and certifications as a Spiritual Director, and a Cannabis Assisted Psychedelic Guide.

Rev. Jeff Vidt MAT MAR RP

Jeff Vidt is a Certified Spiritual Care Specialist and Registered Psychotherapist, and has spent his entire professional career promoting and providing spiritual care.  He has worked in a diverse range of health care contexts, including the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Unity Health Toronto, and various hospices and long-term care centres.  He was a participant in the Religious Leader Study conducted by Johns Hopkins and since then has been involved with advocacy and educating of psychedelics and spiritual care in Canada. He is passionately dedicated to education and helping others learn the ways spirituality impacts health, and has developed expertise in providing staff support in trauma. He lives in Ottawa with his wife and two sons.

Rev. Dr. Bonnie Glass-Coffin PhD MDiv BCC

Rev. Dr. Bonnie Glass-Coffin is a Professor of Anthropology and an Affiliate Professor of Religious Studies at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she has taught since 1993. After completing a Master of Divinity degree in interfaith/interspiritual studies (with All Paths Divinity School in Los Angeles), and four units of clinical pastoral education with St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, she became a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains in 2020. Although she grew up Presbyterian and Lutheran (and has deep affinity for Latin American Catholicism), she identifies, spiritually, with South American shamanism more than with any organized religious body. Since 2019, Bonnie has worked most weekends as part of the small but mighty professional spiritual care team at the University of Utah Hospital (a 700+ bed, Level I Trauma Center in Salt Lake City). Bonnie is a Co-convener of the Transforming Chaplaincy Psychedelic Care Network.

Dr. Jamie Beachy MDiv PhD

Jamie Beachy MDiv PhD is a spiritual health educator, ethics consultant, and psychedelic therapy practitioner. She was a sub-investigator for phase 3 clinical trials researching the safety and efficacy of MDMA-assisted therapy for the treatment of PTSD. As a chaplain and ACPE-certified Educator, Dr. Beachy brings many years of experience in trauma, palliative care, and hospice settings, including the development of a certificate in Palliative Care Chaplaincy for the Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care.
Dr. Beachy developed graduate level course offerings and curricula related to eco-chaplaincy and psychedelic therapies as core faculty for the Master of Divinity program and Director of Education for Naropa University’s Center for Psychedelic Studies. An advocate for the integration of spiritual health and psychedelic care, she co-founded the Psychedelic Care Research Network through the Transforming Chaplaincy initiative and has spoken and written broadly on the role of professional spiritual care in psychedelic care. Additionally, she serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines.
Certified in CBCT® (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training), a program developed at the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University, Dr. Beachy seeks to integrate insights from contemplative practice into emerging psychedelic therapy best practices.
